the problem
Excessive logistical energy is required to send food waste to landfill. Plus it’s an environmental hazard. The food waste decomposes without oxygen (anaerobically) to produce methane, a greenhouse gas with over 20 times the global warming capacity of carbon dioxide. Decomposing food waste is also a potential source of leachates, a liquid that drains from landfills that can contaminate surface and ground water.
the solution
Zero Waste ES series waste management systems can process waste for medium size foodservice operations up to very large institutions or facilities. Compostable waste is dehydrated using an energy efficient and automated control process. The ES series systems are easy to install, maintain and requires no fresh water connection. Paddles macerate the waste heated by the unit's decomposing chamber to kill any bacteria and reduce the waste matter by up to 93%, producing a dry, light and odour free material that may be used as soil additive.
